It’s the most famous hall in history, not only, because it was made of gold and amber, but also because of its wanishing in the violent years of WW2. There are many speculations of possible location of hiding the Amber Room (a few of them are in Poland – Owl Mountains, Nysa, Cracow). The Amber Room was made for Tsar Peter the Great in XVIII century (it was a present from Prussian king Frederick William I. The major decorative panels were sent to Russia in eighteen containers.

The Amber Room was placed in the Catherine castle of Tsarskoye Selo (summer mansion of Russian tsars near Saint Petersburg). The amber room was covered by more than 55 square meters and contained over 6 tones of amber. It is a valuable piece of craft, which include gilding carvings, Danish amber panels, glamorous gemstones, mirrors and scultures. This location was used to house a collection of amber-work and Chinese crockery. There were lots of precious furniture to kept and presented this amazing collection. The Amber Room was stolen during World War IIby Army Group North of Nazi Germany and brought to Konigsberg palace (destroyed during an Allied bombarding) and then it gone. There are many guesses what the destiny of the Amber Room was.

One of them says that it was crushed by Allied bombs, second claimed that it was replaced from the castle and maybe hidden somewhere in the town, third – that it was put onto a ship, but soaked during the transport. It has also been said that the hall got got lost and just forgotten and maybe it will be meet after many years in some old depot between some container, furniture and other furniture or other missing treasures. A lots of people are again and again looking for this remarkable part of art, many of them spent all theirs existence on this activity, a few of them even passed away. It is believed that the Amber Room is coursed and those who are almost break up its secret died or are misfortune. After many years the Amber Room was rebuilt by Russian craftsmen and reopened in 2003 (it was connected with 300th celebration of Saint Petersburg).
